"Don Pepino and the Festival"
Inspired by a North American city. Pittsburgh is part of me. For some reason of fate, almost everything I paint ends up going there, and I know it is well received. Without knowing the northern city, I’m able to imagine it — all I need are a couple of images and writings I find on the internet, and to feel the affection I have for some of its inhabitants, whom I hope to meet someday — its baseball team, its bridges, and a Cuban-American who walks through that city and whom I appreciate very much.
For this special drawing, I made myself a cucumber juice, and with a bit of it, I moistened a brush to blend the graphite from the pencil.
Come on, Don Pepino, offer your juice at the next Picklesburgh (the pickle festival)!
