"Daniel returns to the theme of migration—an obligatory trauma, a constant presence. It is not a subject to be swept under the rug or piled into a corner, disguised among old trinkets. Migration, a historical scar, always resurfaces as a wound of its time.
Daniel understands this well, and his tribute now is more solemn, more moving than ironic. His figures cross the sea, carrying with them who they are while leaving behind who they once were.
Like fish weeping black tears, they seem to hurl themselves into the future, wagering their very souls."
