Salon Series: Ojo Crítico (30min)
Ojo: “OH-hoh” (the “j” is like an English “h”). Crítico: “KREE-tee-koh” (stress on the first syllable: KREE). Meaning: "Critical Eye"
What is the Salon Series?
The Salon Series is a set of short, 30-minute gatherings that give you practical ways to bring art into your life—without lectures, without pretension, and without needing hours of free time. The Salon Series events include:
- Ojo Crítico: Train your eye like a collector—spotting the details that set a work apart.
- Intermission: Sit with one painting. A midweek pause to let art reset your senses.
- Cultured Language: learning how to guide others into seeing art’s meaning.
Why?
Our experience has shown us the following, the foundation of a truly cultured life comes down to three simple, learnable skills.
1. How to "See" (Perception & Discernment) - Most people only glance at art. The first fundamental is learning to slow down and actually see—to notice form, detail, color, composition, and intention. This is the skill of discernment: training the eye to recognize what makes one work different from another, and what makes it resonate with you.
Salon tie-in: Ojo Crítico → practical, collector-level perception training.
2. How to Live With Art (Integration & Ritual) - Art isn’t just for galleries—it’s a living force when it enters your day, your home, your rhythm. The second fundamental is learning to let art shape your environment and mindset: as a pause, a reset, a source of clarity. This is about building small rituals where art enhances life, not just decorates it.
Salon tie-in: Intermission → using art as a weekly reset and ritual.
3. How to Speak Artfully (Language & Confidence) - A collector’s eye is powerful, but the ability to share what you see and feel is what makes culture ripple outward. The third fundamental is learning the language—how to ask questions, tell stories, and invite others into meaning. This transforms art from a private encounter into a social skill, giving you confidence in cultured spaces.
Salon tie-in: Cultured Language → empowering guests to guide others into connection.
